Abstract:
One of the current pressing issues in astronomy involves the search for dark matter. While many have heard of this problem, surprising few know what is involved. So, the purpose of this talk is to introduce the source of the dark matter search and then to demonstrate that, rather than an astronomical problem, most of the issue is one of mathematics. As part of this discussion, it reasons will be developed to show that the problem may not be anywhere as serious as astronomers believe.
