Abstract:

We present a study of the continuous-time equations governing the dynamics of an SIS (susceptible-infected-susceptible) model on heterogeneous metapopulations. In contrast with the classical, non-realistic formulation, the population is not assumed to be well mixed but distributed inside local patches (nodes) with a contact structure (links) modeled by a complex network. We give conditions on the transmission, recovery and migration rates to assure that the epidemic dies out / expands among the whole population.

The seminar will be held in Catalan (very detailed slides in English).
