Abstract:

This is the first out of 2 or 3 lectures, consisting on a gentle introduction to quasiconformal surgery in holomorphic dynamics. Some basic knowledge of holomorphic dynamics will be assumed, mainly for the applications. These talks are addressed to graduate students or researchers who have no previous knowledge of this technique.
