Abstract

We show that for each analytic function $T$ at $0$ with $T(0)>0$ and having a local extremum at $0,$ there exists a unique analytic potential system having $T$ as a period function of the initial condition. We apply this result to characterize isochronism in a classical mechanical problem modelled by two coupled potential systems.
