Abstract

The consideration of densities of populations with respect to the evolutionary variables is a way of modelling biological evolution as a dynamical system. In this talk we will do it by means of an example. As a starting point we study a density dependent, time continuous model of ordinary differential equations with two groups of age, both from the ecological and from the evolutionary point of view.
Afterwards we consider an integro-differential equations model that is obtained by considering densities with respect to the evolutionary variable in the ode model. We analyze the (evolutionary) relationship between the two models.
