Abstract:

We consider the secant method as a dynamical system defined in the real plane. Let $p$ be a polynomial we consider the dynamical system given by $T(x,y)=(y,y-p(y)frac{x-y}{p(x)-p(y)})$, we investigate the dynamical properties of $T$ and the relation with the roots of the polynomial $p$.
