Chaos and Limit Cycles in Piecewise Smooth Vector Fields on Torus [ Back ]

Abstract:

The theory of Piecewise Smooth Vector Fields (PSVF) has been developing very fast in the last years, mainly due to its strong relation with branches of applied science. The local theory, at least for the planar case, is a consistent theory, with a lot of results on structural stability and bifurcations. We consider the global dynamics of PSVF defined in the two dimensional torus. We provide conditions under these families exhibits periodic and dense trajectories and we describe some global bifurcations. We also study its minimal sets and characterize the chaotic behavior of the PSVFs on torus. For regular PSVF we provide conditions to the existence of limit cyles.
